Age, Gender: 35 at start of Inquisition, Cismale
Race, Nationality: Human, Tevene (soporati)
Orientation: Demiromantic, Demisexual
Physique: 5’11”; 180lbs; athletic frame
Details: He keeps his hair, curling and blue-black, on the shorter side and combed smartly back and away from his face, matching a groomed, half-grown beard. His eyes are a dark brown with warm amber tones in them, offsetting the cool undertones of his skin. He’s middling dark to begin with, a cool khaki that darkens more to a rich taupe the longer he stays in the sun, much like a deepening shade cast across an olive tree.
Of scars he has had his fair share–his fingers and knuckles are rife with the little white scars of one who’s done swordplay for years, including one that went deep enough to cause nerve damage, and there is a triangular silvered scar high up on his right cheekbone, just along the bone (he learned to be quicker a dodging after that). There are thicker, old scars along his ribcage and arms from when he was too slow or inadequate at blocking an attack, but they all mark lessons well learned.
Voice: Bass range, with lightly accented but fluent Trade Tongue. His voice tends to dip down just a hair when speaking Tevene.

҂Maretus enjoys smoking a pipe–a straight one about six inches and made of good sweet redwood. He doesn’t indulge often, but it is among his most coveted possessions.
҂He takes to his writing much the same as his painting, being very deliberate in each letter stroke and word, and thus his handwriting is quite precise and neat. He always writes in a straight line.
҂He has expressive tone-deafness, and thus cannot sing well or play and sort of tonal instrument. He can, however, handle rhythm well–probably due to the years of marching.
҂There is nerve damage on his left hand extending from between his middle and ring finger to his pinky, and as a result he has a significant loss of feeling in that area both in his palm and on the back of his hand. Motor functions are all retained, but one would have to be just shy of slamming a heavy or sharp object down on the area for him to feel it through the skin. There is a thin but deep scar just on the outside of the middle knuckle that is from the blade that caused the damage.
҂He is ambidextrous in fighting, writing, though favors his left hand when painting.
҂Maretus is very fond of cats, and will put out bowls of milk for them. He also will crush mint and speak softly to them in Tevene when he thinks nobody is around. He also likes horses and is a passable rider.
҂He is not the biggest fan of boats or ships. Fortunately, he doesn’t get seasickness, and can stand being on a boat if need be, but he cannot fathom how people spend the majority of their lives on the water. Give him good solid ground beneath his feet any day. Though, he does enjoy swimming, despite not having many chances to do so, and enjoys being by the water, on the shore. Perhaps with water around his ankles.
҂Despite not being suited to a sedentary lifestyle or the “desk job” of a dignitary or ambassador or some similar profession, Maretus takes great pride in his reports–in their accuracy, their clarity, even the precision of the lines and writing itself on parchment. He not-so-secretly enjoys writing them.
